Rev. Dave Howard
Rev. Dave Howard has been the resident minister at CMC since Dec 2011 after serving 10 years as the senior minister of St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Welkom.
He was born and raised in Port Elizabeth, the youngest of 2 children. At the age of 19 he was born again through placing his faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour, and a few years later heard the Holy Spirit calling him into full–time ministry.
Having served as a lay pastor at St. John’s Methodist Church in PE for three years, and as a probationer minister at both St. Luke’s Methodist Chuch in Welkom and Brackenfell Methodist Church, Dave was ordained as a minister in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa in 2001. Dave completed his Honours Bachelor of Theology through UNISA.
Dave is deeply committed to the authority of the Bible and seeks to teach and preach in submission to God’s revealed truth in Scripture at all times. His greatest desire is to be in intimate fellowship with Jesus and, out of that intimacy, to worship and serve Him with passionate zeal. He also plays the guitar and leads musical worship at CMC regularly as part of our worship teams.
Dave has been married to Gerrida since 1994 and they have been blessed with 2 grown−up children: Joshua and Hester.
Dave is also an avid sports fan, supporting the local Stormers and Cape Cobra’s at rugby and cricket respectively.
In the Methodist Church our Servant-Leadership Team are called ‘Society Stewards’. These Stewards provide overall leadership to the Church and also take responsibility for leading a particular area of Church life.
